You will find Tobalong Tomatoes at the Willunga Farmers Market every Saturday from September to June

Product line: gourmet cherry tomatoes, heritage tomatoes, basil, cucumbers, shallots

Tobalong Tomatoes produce the finest gourmet cherry tomatoes. The fruit is vine ripened and develops an intense sweet flavour.

Graham and Judith Coventry with the help of their children, Carolyn, Mark, James and Andrew are growing Tobalong Tomatoes in the soils of the River Murray floodplains. The rich fertile soil of the drained swamp alongside the river gives the tomatoes their distinct flavour. The plants are drip irrigated and have minimum chemicals used on them and no sulphur.

All tomatoes are grown from seed, including Big Red, Romas, the ever-popular Grosse Lisse and heritage-style tomatoes such as Rouge de Marmande and Black Russian.

Over 10,000 plants are grown at any one time in poly/glass houses.

“We strive to produce a premium product,” say Graham. “Customers are surprised when they first taste our tomatoes and they keep coming back for more.”

Tobalong Tomatoes also sell their farm-grown basil, shallots (an old variety which is a family favourite) and Bishop Apple Cucumbers (named after Graham’s Grandfather who developed this variety of apple cucumber).

“I have been given some of the original seeds which my Grandfather had and from this stock I am developing a supply of the Bishop variety” say Graham.

“We love the interaction with the customers and the favourable comments really make it all worthwhile.”

Tobalong Tomatoes are also at the Adelaide Showground and Adelaide Hills Farmers Markets.
