WFM's 9th birthday goes off with a bang!

WFM celebrated it's 9th birthday on Saturday 26 February in style.

We were joined by celebrated chef, Simon Bryant, who cooked an amazing Japanese hotpot (Shabu Shabu) with ingredients he picked up from the market that morning.

Founding chairperson, Zannie Flanagan AM, also unveiled Sir Wilmark the Market mascot.

The large bronze rooster statue used to sit in front of the market every Saturday at the Alma Hotel. He is now on display all year round under the trees in the market space.

Stuart McPherson from Bush Pepper Catering, supplied two large and beautifully decorated cakes for the event.

Customers and stallholders all got a share of both the cake and the Shabu Shabu, with everyone heading home both very happy and very full.

Simon has been kind enough to share the Shabu Shabu recipe with us all, so click here to go to his website for it.
