Starlight Springs
You will find Starlight Springs at the Willunga Farmers Market every Saturday
Product line: seasonal vegetables, free-range eggs, Wormalizer (liquid garden fertiliser)
Ian and Colleen Francis thrive on their farming lifestyle and the feedback they get from their Market customers only strengthens their commitment.
Their Myponga farm has multiple springs across the whole property that rise up with any rains, creating beautiful wetlands with abundant bird life and native bandicoots – hence the name Starlight Springs.
Just over 1 hectare is productive land which is farmed using organic principles with no chemicals used.
Ian and Colleen work closely together to raise most of their vegetables from seed on site, ensuring they are hardy and acclimatised. They also produce their own liquid manure, compost, and chook and cow manure.
Starlight Springs’ crunchy carrots and salad greens are available nearly all year; their other tasty vegetables follow the seasons.
Summer/Autumn: Tomato, eggplant, capsicum, zucchini, cucumber, garlic, celery, sweet corn, snow peas, beans, beetroot, silverbeet, artichokes, onions.
Autumn/Winter: pumpkin, potato, leeks, broccoli, kale, cabbage.
Winter/Spring: cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, Asian greens, broadbeans, peas, silverbeet.
They also produce the fabulous Wormalizer, an excellent liquid fertiliser for your home garden.
Initially produced by Trevor Stewart, the Market’s first Life Member who has now passed on, the worm farms have been entrusted to Starlight Springs who use Wormaliser on their own property.
Worm farms are also sold at the Market but please pre order your worms the week before.
